Lake Alster is a paradise for sailors, rowers, and paddlers, with a history dating back to the 1200s. Enjoy a refreshing "Alsterwasser," a beer mixed with lemonade, on a warm summer day. Take a tour around the Alster, a city tour on the water. Steamships depart from the elegant Jungfernstieg, offering a charming view of the city skyline. A walk around the Alster is also a pleasant and interesting experience. Hamburg boasts a total of 2,453 bridges! Compare that to cities considered to have many bridges: London with only 850, Amsterdam with 600, and Venice with no more than 400 bridges.

In the heart of the city lies the famous "Planten un Blomen," a beautiful recreational area with a botanical garden and Europe's largest Japanese garden. The park lake with a water light organ is impressive. From May to September, water displays perform during the day, and colorful water light concerts are held in the evening.

** Hamburger DOM.** Several times a year on the Heiligengeistfeld near the Reeperbahn, you can find everything from carousels to high-tech rides and, of course, food, beer, and entertainment for all ages.

** Port of Hamburg’s 821st Birthday.** Founded in 1189, the Port of Hamburg is celebrated every year at the beginning of May. Many activities take place on water, on land, and in the air around the harbor. Highlights include meetings with the most beautiful and largest windjammers in the world. It promises fun activities and entertainment for the entire family.

** SchlagerMove Hamburg** The festival of love in the district of St. Pauli. Also known as "Sing-Along in Sankt Pauli" with a 60s and 70s theme revolving around peace, love & music. Suitable attire and a good singing voice are advantageous!

** Alstervergnügen** This street festival is held in Hamburg's city center around Lake Alster. Each year, various exhibitions, sporting events, and music performances can be experienced. Every evening around ten, different countries compete in a combination of music and fireworks.

** Christmas Markets in Hamburg** Hamburg offers numerous Christmas markets from late November to late December. The markets are themed after historic or traditional Hanseatic styles. Or more party-like at the Christmas market on the Reeperbahn, also known as the "erotic Christmas market."
