Alpine Skiing
Geilo offers two ski areas located on each side of the valley, featuring a total of 39 slopes and 20 lifts. The wide variety of difficulties makes the area perfect for families. A ski pass includes free use of the ski bus between the two ski areas and accommodations.
Cross-Country Skiing
A journey on the terrain similar to "Norway's Roof," such as Hardangervidda, is a must-try in this region. There are also plenty of well-groomed trails in the forests around Geilo, totaling 220 km of marked trails.
Activities Beyond Skiing
For access to the area, the local train offers scenic travel through Norway’s stunning landscapes. Geilo has numerous charming cafés, restaurants, and a vibrant après-ski atmosphere. For quieter activities, sleigh rides are available. For those seeking more excitement, dog sledding and snow rafting are offered.
Family Activities
Geilo provides four popular activities for children. Kids can enjoy a thrilling treasure hunt, play in Bobland, or participate in ski orienteering. There are also three different ski schools to choose from.
Accommodation
In Geilo, you can choose between vacation apartments and hotels. Both types of accommodations are centrally located in relation to the ski areas.
Snowboarding
Geilo's three snowboard parks attract many visitors. They feature a superpipe, as well as halfpipes, big jumps, rails, and funboxes. One of these parks, Tirilparken, is one of the largest in the area. There are two ways to reach this park: via chairlift or T-bar lift.
During the summer, you can find experiences that suit you perfectly. Mountain hiking offers various difficulty levels and lengths.
Why not enjoy a horseback ride and experience the scenery? Rides are available for both adults and children.
For the more adventurous, white-water rafting is an option. Additionally, there are opportunities for activities such as fishing, cycling, and hunting.
