Calabria

Exotic Calabria boasts two seas: the Tyrrhenian, opposite Sicily, and the Ionian, bordering Basilicata. Awaiting you here are stunning sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters.

A well-known area is Capo Vaticano, featuring the villages of Ricadi and Santa Domenica. This charming peninsula, with its magnificent nature, is just south of Tropea. The views over the Aeolian Islands and the azure Mediterranean are breathtaking, and the famous coves offer white sandy beaches interspersed with magnificent cliffs. It's truly a paradise for swimming and diving enthusiasts.

Tropea, the town perched on cliffs, offers many beautiful views with its narrow alleyways and cozy restaurants—all with a fantastic view of the sea below. This popular town buzzes with life, and you'll find numerous outdoor cafes in lovely settings. Tropea’s beach is considered one of Italy’s best. On Calabria’s opposite side, you'll also find fantastic beaches worth visiting.

Apulia

The region's long coastline varies from dramatic landscapes in the north to flatter terrain in the south. Small coves line the coast beautifully, offering many hidden gems where you can sunbathe and swim without crowds. The water is crystal-clear, and many places have been awarded the blue flag more than once. Moreover, the bathing season is long, and the water can be warmest at the end of September. The region is rich in history, having had many visitors over the centuries. The ancient Via Appia, which connected Rome to Brindisi, was a gateway to the East. Normans, Greeks, Spaniards, and French are just some of the peoples who left their mark.

There is an abundance of charming historic towns, such as Vieste and Ostuni, also known as the White City, where you can wander through narrow streets, enjoy its beauty, and experience authentic local life. Inland, small sleepy villages are worth visiting, and the trullo houses appear here and there as a reminder of bygone times.

Alberobello, with over 1000 trullo houses, is one of the region’s most visited tourist spots. Consider staying a few nights and enjoy dining at one of the local restaurants. Further south, you can explore other beautiful towns and places like Lecce, known as the queen of Salento. Here, admire stunning buildings and historical sites.
