Viaggio verso Sant Antoni de Portmany

San Antonio (or Sant Antoni de Portmany) is a town on the western coast of Ibiza. Originally a small fishing village, San Antonio expanded significantly in the mid-20th century due to Spain's growing tourism industry. Exclusive bars, restaurants, hotels, and other tourist facilities were developed, and the town expanded beyond San Antonio Bay toward the cove of Cala de Bou and further into the neighboring area of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia. Today, San Antonio is considered a holiday paradise where many visit to enjoy the sun, sea, activities, and entertainment.

Along the scenic harbor and beach promenade, you’ll find palm trees and various plants. Large fountains illuminate the area in the evening. On one side of the street is San Antonio Bay, where yachts are lined up, and just a short walk away is a wonderful beach. On the other side of the street, there are several charming restaurants, cafes, and shops with ocean views.

Culture and Entertainment

San Antonio Bay is a vibrant place to visit, especially during local festivals featuring grand firework displays. The area is alive with art, theater, music, and several events catering to all ages.

West End is an area in San Antonio where the main street offers a variety of bars and nightclubs. This area guarantees vibrant nightlife with clubs hosting popular DJs playing electronic and house music every evening throughout the year.

A notable landmark and the most famous attraction is a statue known as "The Egg," built in the early 1990s to honor Christopher Columbus. San Antonio is believed to be Columbus’s birthplace, and in the center of the statue, his ship Santa Maria can be seen. "The Egg" is located at the roundabout at the town's entrance.

Beaches in the Area

Central beaches include the popular stretches of sand like S'Arenal de San Antonio, Es Puet Beach, Playa S’Estanyol, Playa Pinet, and Playa Xinxo (also known as Playa Bella or Cala de Bou). Playa Port d'es Torrent is another favorite beach just outside the town, approximately a 5-minute drive from the center. Regular buses run to and from Playa Port d'es Torrent. All beaches in San Antonio offer a variety of water sports and activities for the entire family to enjoy—why not try a banana boat ride? At Es Puet Beach, you can also rent a boat and go water skiing.

For those seeking a more private setting to relax and enjoy the gentle waves, Cala Salada Beach is recommended. Just a 15-minute drive from San Antonio, this cove, surrounded by forested hills, offers a white sandy beach and turquoise, crystal-clear waters. It's a wonderful vacation experience.
